    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the shelf life of GREEN & BLACK’S products?

Please refer to the "Best Before" date printed on the packaging. The "Best Before" date on our chocolate products assures that our GREEN & BLACK'S fans enjoy the best quality product through the end of its shelf life when stored at the right conditions. Our products typically have a shelf life of 12 months, and some high cocoa content products can have a shelf life up to 15 or 18 months.

How should I store my GREEN & BLACK’S chocolate product?

We recommend storing this product at room temperature in a cool dry place prior to opening.

What type of cocoa is used in GREEN & BLACK’S products?

Our Pure Dark Chocolate products use cocoa beans hand-harvested from African small-holder farms, then sun-dried on the farm to lock in the authentic flavor of the bean.

Our Pure Milk Chocolate products use cocoa beans hand-harvested from Caribbean farms, then nurtured to develop a rich taste and dried to lock in the intense flavor of the Trinitario bean.

Our Organic chocolate products use organically grown cocoa, of the Trinitario variety, to create our exquisite chocolate products. We source these crops from many places but mainly from the Dominican Republic and Belize.

How does GREEN & BLACK’S source its cocoa beans?

All GREEN & BLACK’S cocoa beans are sourced through Cocoa Life, a holistic, third party verified cocoa sustainability program.

I have certain food allergies. Can I enjoy GREEN & BLACK’S chocolates?

GREEN & BLACK’S is aware of the seriousness of allergens, and takes great pride in working to ensure its products are safe, wholesome and properly labeled.

When labeling products, we consider all possible sources of the eight major allergens recognized by the FDA. These are eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, milk, peanuts, soy, tree nuts and wheat. In addition to the above eight FDA allergens, GREEN & BLACK’S also tracks lupin, mollusks, and sesame seeds.
